Midnight is a collective consisting of a clothing brand and tattoo studio based in Portland, Oregon. The artists behind the conception of Midnight, Parker and Maria, are two queer women who believe that important changes must be made in the tattoo industry. They are vocal about issues within the industry and are striving to provide you with the experience you deserve when getting a tattoo. Midnight values being a safe, body positive space for all humans especially women + feminine presenting humans, queer humans, BIPOC humans, old humans, extra large humans, disabled humans - all humans (18 years or older). Maria and Parker both prioritize your comfort and have implemented informed consent into every step of the tattoo process. They hope to educate clients so they can make informed decisions to get tattoos they love, and educate tattooers on how to provide clients with a safe, positive experience. In an effort to make their industry more inclusive and combat gatekeeping, they constantly share knowledge on social media to both clients and artists. What separates Midnight from other tattoo shops is that we consider ourselves a collective, meaning we believe that tattoo shop owners should not capitalize from artists by taking a percentage (shop commission) from their tattoos. Instead, artists split a flat-rate rent equally, allowing our artists to tattoo without the pressure to pack their days full with appointments to make a living. It means that clients receive a more personal, attentive experience, and improves the quality of the entire service.
